Abutments and Attachments
“Abutments” are attached to the dental implant and “attachments” are held within your denture to connect it to the dental implant. Not all are alike, and we are proud to use the highest quality brands and materials.
Abutments are screwed into the dental implant, and they “snap” into the attachments that are held within the denture. It is important to use an abutment that can be removed. Some systems attach the implant and abutment as 1 piece. If the abutment is damaged or wears over time the whole implant must be removed.
Attachments are retained in a metal housing that is held within the denture. They “snap” onto the abutments. Attachments are usually made of plastic and they wear down over time, which can make your denture feel loose. When this occurs they are easily replaced so that your denture will feel tight again.
